Inlet Park (3200 block Murray Street, Port Moody) currently has a large gravel sports field that accommodates soccer, softball and slo-pitch. It has a field house, bleachers, and an access trail that connects to Shoreline Trail. Inlet Field is also the home field to the Port Moody Soccer Association.
On January 8, Council was presented with a report on Inlet Sports Field – Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program Grant Application 2019, and directed staff to apply for funding with the federal program. It is expected that successful grants will be announced in late 2019.
The proposed Inlet Field Redevelopment Project would transform the sports field into a more versatile recreation facility and community space. The existing gravel sports field would be replaced with a high quality, all-weather artificial turf surface. The new field accommodates three smaller “Super-8” soccer pitches with wide end zones and sidelines suitable for younger players, a FIFA-regulation field for adult soccer games, and two baseball and softball diamonds. The redeveloped site would also include batting cages, playground, additional parking spaces, and a new field house.
Summer 2019 is the target for the final design of the project. City staff continues to engage user groups and receives input to aid in the design process. There is no confirmed date for start of construction activities.
